Alison grows her own food; a cook, composts, has a worm farm and shops directly with farmers and producers or at “authentic” farmers markets and the local food co-ops. She bakes from scratch and is obsessed with amazing produce and the people who grow it. She spends her life at markets and gallivanting to regional areas in search of what she calls “little gems” organically started festivals like the Salami Festival in Griffith. Her favorite television show a little girl was to no surprise The Good Life!
Alison is inspired by sustainability as it represents quality, authenticity, integrity and small scale. A food recipe writer, chef, creative producer and ambassador for sustainability and Director of The Alison Principle a company she established to inspire businesses and individual to create change that contributes to corporate and social responsibility and address food holistically: people, planet and plate.
Alison’s creativity and passion is what sets her apart. She is driven to inspire people to create change which will ensure the future of our food and planet by the way they eat.
Her dream is to have hospitals that grow their own food employing local people and to replace supermarkets with food coops that are committed to paying farmers the highest price for their commitment to sustainable agriculture and for food shopping to be enjoyable and places to relax and assist consumers.
She would love to see every school have a canteen with simple home cooked food which allows students to experience the diversity of different cultures.
Now, through her company, The Alison Principle (http://www.thealisonprinciple.com/), she consults to caterers, festivals, restaurants, government and corporations, to improve the quality, locality and integrity of food whilst reducing the carbon footprint and improving corporate and social responsibility. The Alison Principle also designs events, consults on projects and works with clients’ marketing strategy to assist in developing business opportunities which are aligned with improving corporate and socially responsibility and delivering triple bottom line benefits.
